I’ve had a few people mention to me that it’s been a while since I last updated this thing. sorry about that. :)

what’s new with nick, you ask? well, I’m still working at openroad in gastown (vancouver), having a great time working here. starting to get into some ASP.NET as well as the usual Java and PHP work, so the variety is nice, and it’s a change of pace from what I’m used to.

on the homefront, kath and I actually bought a townhouse in north van over the summer. we’re now living on east 4th, close to the bottom of lonsdale, in a nice area. the new place is approx. 1500 sq. ft. on two storeys, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, secure parkade, and has a huge terrace on the south side, and we have an awesome downtown skyline view from the master bedroom. of the 3 upstairs bedrooms, one of which is now a media room (hello home theatre!) and the other is now our office. the dogs have the run of the place, and they are really enjoying the “let’s run down the staircase at mach 2″ technique they’ve picked up since we moved in. obviously, a dog power-sliding on the hardwood after jumping the last 3 stairs at high speed makes it all worthwhile.

now that I’m taking public transit (seabus!) to work, I’m starting to read quite a bit more (especially techie magazines, so sad.) I can say that it’s about 1000 times more relaxing than the ol’ road-rage drive across the 2nd narrows into downtown every morning, and waiting during rush hour on the way back. major difference, no more driving stress!

I’m also in the process of hooking up the new place for wireless (802.11g baby!) now, too. hopefully sandisk will release a wireless SD card soon so my new tungsten t3 can hook into our network wirelessly.

speaking of the t3, I’m going to start doing a little J2ME development for palm pretty soon. that should be interesting, and it’s been a while since I’ve messed with J2ME — palm java support has come a long way since I had my old palm V.

other than that, same old routine. cleaning up the new place, painting, re-furnishing, looking into buying a widescreen 42″ LCD rear-projection TV.. :)
