back from the BKK Well, I just got back from Thailand last Saturday, and I’m still fighting off a combination of jetlag and a head cold that I managed to pick up on my last day in the city. I had an excellent time, but I think I’ll be staying away from airplanes for a little while. 18 hours one way and 14 hours the other make for a lot of sitting in a horribly cramped economy seat (thanks, Air Canada!)

Luckily I made a few phone calls before leaving, because good ol’ Air Canada had managed to not send me my updated ticket after changing my flight schedule back to Vancouver. If I hadn’t spent 30 minutes on hold with Aeroplan (long distance from Bangkok to Montreal, since their toll-free number only works in North America.. grr), followed by a very strange discussion with Thai Airways blaming Air Canada for the mix-up, I would never have called Air Canada on the day before I left to find out that I had about 90 minutes left in the business day to make it to their office in downtown Bangkok, in order to have my return ticket reprinted. Thankfully I made it there with about 25 minutes to spare and they printed me up a new ticket. Whew.

Meanwhile, I’ve put together a little photo-travelogue of my journeys throughout Bangkok and the surrounding areas that you can check out here:

napping on the pavement My last day or so worth of photos still aren’t up there, but they should be within the next couple of days.

I’ve added a lot of comments throughout the set which should hopefully give people browsing through a good idea of what Bangkok is like (well, the parts of it that I saw — considering how huge it is, I doubt I even saw half of the city.) The comments are also for my own reference.. I’ve been checking out the new Flickr Photo Printing service (which isn’t available yet in Canada) as well as 3rd party printing services like QOOP, which I’m definitely interested in testing out. Having an album of my trip photos would be pretty cool, especially if if all my comments are auto-magically transcribed on there, and I can specify how many prints per page, randomize a cover selection, etc.

If anyone has experience with either printing service (since I’m curious as to what the differences are between using Flickr’s version versus a 3rd party printer), let me know.
