openroad launches thoughtfarmer.com
Well, here’s some good news. The company I work for, OpenRoad Communications, has just launched the official site for our first product. This has basically been my project from the get-go (we started on it last spring), but I’ve been working with Jeff Pennal on it since last fall. Here’s a little blurb from the site to give you a bit of an overview as to what it actually is:
ThoughtFarmer is server-based software that powers intranets for medium to large-sized companies.
A ThoughtFarmer-powered intranet can be your company’s authoritative information source and an indispensable tool for discussion, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Many business leaders are frustrated with how difficult it is to maintain an accurate, up-to-date, engaging intranet. Likewise, many employees consider their company’s intranet irrelevant to their day-to-day jobs, and therefore use it infrequently.
ThoughtFarmer Intranet solves these problems by turning your intranet users into intranet editors. See a mistake? Fix it. Have an idea? Share it. A ThoughtFarmer-powered intranet can be your company’s authoritative information source and an indispensable tool for discussion, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
ThoughtFarmer has some extremely useful features, including wiki-style collaboration and a portal “central hub”-type environment. It also has some neat tools like version control on all pages, incorporated user “places” (which are basically personal homepages for each user in the system), support for draft content and future publishing, a robust administration system, and granular security system that allows for inherited or individual/group permissions on all content.
I think it’s very cool, but I’m obviously completely biased, but be sure to check it out and spread the word. :)
